The Black Fish starts European info tour

Most people will have heard about The Black Fish in recent months as an organisation which takes action for cetaceans in captivity, cutting nets at the Taiji dolphin hunt, campaigning for the closure of a dolphinarium in Münster, Germany and running an ongoing campaign for the release of a captive orca in Harderwijk, Netherlands, named Morgan. The Black Fish is now in the process of planning new campaigns and is hitting the road to inform people and discuss the upcoming plans with other organisations.
The Black Fish will tour around Europe in the coming months with events in Sweden, Belgium, Germany and Israel.
European waters are heavily overfished with 88% of the fish populations in European waters now under threat. Some species, such as the Atlantic bluefin tuna are so heavily overfished they are facing extinction in the near future. Whaling in Europe is also on the increase. Norway has the highest killing quota in the world and Iceland kills most endangered fin whales.
The tour will start in Sweden, followed by events in Germany, Belgium and Israel later in the year. We will mostly be meeting with representatives from various Swedish environmental, conservation and animal welfare groups but you are invited to attend on of the two public events which will be held in Järna (near Stockholm) and Gothenburg:
13 November, 14:00-18:00, Järna. Fritidshem Fjärilen @ Mariaskolan, Hjulåkersvägen 1.
21 November, 15:00-21:00, Gothenburg. Folkkök, Underjorden, Brahegatan 2, Gamlestan.
During the events activists from The Black Fish will hold a presentation about the situation in Europe regarding marine conservation, there will be room for discussion and nice vegan food too. For more information about the events in Sweden, please contact sverige@theblackfish.org
